I’m Sarah and I’m the Campaigns Manager for Dimensions. I am also the project manager for the incredible Leaders’ List which (between you and I) is one of my favourite projects.

The Leaders’ List is a celebration of people with learning disabilities and/or autism and all the wonderful things they’re doing. It’s a national List that publicises their stories, encourages positive conversation and promotes more inclusion of the learning disabled and autistic voice in the media.

Entries close at 6pm on Friday 26th July 2019 so time is running out to be a part of it! Enter or nominate somebody now. I want to be completely overwhelmed with wonderful, inspiring and humbling stories from people across the country!

This year the Leaders’ List is even more accessible

For 2019 there is a special category for people with profound and multiple learning disabilities. We want to give people with profound and multiple learning disabilities an opportunity for their achievements to shine as bright as the rest!

The entry process is also much more accessible – our online form is in an easy read format, with an alternative easy read form available to download too.

We have also made sure the judging process is inclusive. Over two thirds of our judges have a learning disability and/or autism. This is why everybody is asked to answer the same set of questions in their entry; the whole process has been designed to be accessible and inclusive for entries and judges alike.

We have also brought in a category for groups and teams – achievements are never made alone and we know that strength comes in numbers. We want to give groups of people who are making a difference a chance to celebrate as a team!

What are the categories?

Anybody with a learning disability and/or autism in the UK can enter or be nominated under these categories:

  1. Local communities
  2. Advocacy, policy and the media
  3. Work and education
  4. Sports, arts and entertainment
  5. People with profound and multiple learning disabilities
  6. Groups and teams.

What happens next?

Entries close at 6pm on Friday 26th July 2019 so time is running out to make your nomination or entry!

Everybody who enters or is nominated will receive a certificate to celebrate what they’ve done.

The winning stories will be published across Dimensions channels and shared with the press and media in December. We will continue to share the stories and promote the Leaders at all opportunities – searching for chances to have their story shared or to comment on issues in the media.

Last year our 2018 Leaders were featured in The Guardian, The i and Happiful Magazine (to name but a few) and stories were read thousands of times on our website. This year we’re already working hard to secure even more coverage.

We are also planning a special launch event to celebrate our Leaders and thank our judges.
