Emma has shoulder length hair, is wearing glasses, and is wearing a black top and smiling at the cameraWe’re delighted to welcome Emma Scott Davies to the Learning Disability Wales team. We asked Emma to tell us about herself, and their role as Project Support Coordinator for Gig Buddies Cymru.

I joined the Gig Buddies Cymru team in October as Project Support Coordinator, working alongside Karen, Kai, Sian, John, Kylie and Danielle. My role is to support the rest of the team with all things Gig Buddies – processing new participant and volunteer applications, carrying out DBS checks, promoting the project, helping to organise events and socials, and keeping a track of how and what the project is doing so we can tell our funders.

My previous role was working in the NHS doing admin, but before this I have always worked with people with learning disabilities and/or autism – as a support worker and then an advocate for many years. It’s wonderful to be back working in this sector again and as part of such a wonderful project that brings joy to people’s lives and enables them to have the sort of experiences that most of us take for granted.

I’m loving being part of Team Gig Buddies and Learning Disability Wales – everyone has been so friendly and helpful already.

I’m married and have three young children who keep me very busy when I’m not at work! When I do get some spare time, I love reading, playing board games, and meeting up with my friends – especially if it involves a nice meal, and going to the seaside!

I love music and going to gigs when I can. My favourite types of music are pop-punk, folk and pop. Everything from Blink 182 to Taylor Swift! I also love a good dance, although I don’t get much chance at the moment – sometimes a kitchen disco is the best I can do!
