Welsh Government – Easy Read Rules about inspection ratings: What you told us

January 2025 | Care home services and domiciliary support services.

We worked with the Welsh Government to create an Easy Read version of their report.

This report summarises responses to their consultation on new rules for inspection ratings for care homes and domiciliary support services.

The Welsh Government is introducing new rules to ensure care services share their inspection ratings publicly. These ratings help people understand how good a service is. Services will need to show their ratings online, at physical locations and in reports. These rules aim to make inspection ratings accessible to everyone.

The Welsh Government collected feedback from individuals and organisations from 29 July to 14 October 2024.

The report includes what people said about children’s care homes, domiciliary support services, offences related to non-compliance and how services can appeal against an inspection rating.

The document also outlines the next steps. Most proposed rules will not change based on what people said. If agreed by the Senedd, the new rules will start on 31 March 2025.

We also made a Welsh Easy Read version of the report. Both versions are digitally accessible for screen readers and assistive technology.
