Public Services Ombudsman for Wales – Easy Read Living in Disrepair
December 2024 | A report on social housing conditions.
We worked with the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales to create an Easy Read version of their Living in Disrepair report.
The report focuses on complaints about damp, mould, and poor housing conditions in social housing. It explores how these issues affect health and highlights problems with how some landlords handle complaints.
The report includes examples of delays dealing with problems, inadequate property inspections, and the negative impact on vulnerable tenants. The report also shares examples of good practices, like effective complaint handling and thorough inspections.
Recommendations include proactive inspections, timely repairs, better complaint recording, and prioritising vulnerable tenants.
The report calls on housing providers to take action, improve housing conditions and reduce health risks. These recommendations apply to all social landlords and public sector housing providers in Wales.
We also made a Welsh Easy Read version of the report. Both are digitally accessible for screen readers and assistive technology users.
