Learning Disability Wales is a national charity. We work with:
We want Wales to be the best country in the world for people with a learning disability to:
We make sure that people with a learning disability and their supporters know about important issues.
We do this using our website, social media, and easy read service. And by putting on events about important topics.
We want everyone who works with people with a learning disability to have the best skills and values. So we help them to improve their knowledge and skills.
People with a learning disability should have services and support that help them to live meaningful lives.
We help to make this happen by co-producing new and exciting projects. We do this with people with a learning disability and other organisations.
We make sure that people with a learning disability and their supporters are listened to. If something goes wrong, we try to put it right.
Our work right now includes the following projects:
21st Century People – This is our main project at Learning Disability Wales. It is funded by Welsh Government.
People with a learning disability in Wales should be able to live modern lives. 21st Century People aims to do this by working in these areas:
Policy – We help to improve laws and policies that affect people with a learning disability.
We do this by working with people with a learning disability and their families, the Welsh Government, councils, and other disabled people’s organisations.
Cross Party Group on Learning Disability – We help to organise the work of this group. We do this with Sara Pickard from Mencap Cymru.
This is a group of Members of the Senedd and other people who want to improve things for people with a learning disability.

Engage to Change – This project helps young people (aged 16 to 25) with a learning disability and/or autism to find and keep paid work.
Gig Buddies Cymru – This project matches adults with a learning disability and/or autism with a volunteer buddy so they can enjoy gigs and other events together.
Welsh Youth Parliament – We support 2 young disabled people who are Welsh Youth Parliament Members. Their role is to speak up on behalf of young disabled people in Wales.
Connections Cymru – This is a group that brings people together to find ways to stop people being lonely.
Covid-19 Study – We are finding out how the Covid pandemic affected people with a learning disability.
We are doing this by working with All Wales People First, All Wales Forum of Parents and Carers, University of South Wales and Cardiff University.
