Public Health Wales have published four easy read leaflets about the COVID-19 vaccine and who needs to have it. Easy Read Wales produced them on their behalf.

The Covid-19 vaccine is currently being given to people in Wales who are most at risk from Coronavirus.

The impact of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines will offer individual protection as well as greater protection for our loved ones and communities. In time it could mean that restrictions are eased and we can move further towards a return to more normal day-to-day life.

This leaflet tells you about the COVID-19 vaccine and who needs to have the vaccine to protect them from Coronavirus.

Why do I have to wait to get the vaccine?

This leaflet explains that the vaccine is being given to the people most at risk first.

Before getting the vaccine

You should read this leaflet before getting the COVID-19 vaccine. It explains the questions you will be asked when you get the vaccine, and what you need to tell the nurse at your appointment.

If you do not understand anything, it is important to ask the nurse when you go to have your COVID-19 vaccine injection.

After getting the vaccine

You should read this leaflet after you have had the COVID-19 vaccine.

It is very important that you have the second injection. If you do not have the second injection, the vaccine will not work as well.

The vaccine has been tested and is very safe. All medicines have side effects, and you may experience some after the vaccine. This leaflet explains what they may be, and what to do if you are worried about any of the side effects.

Once you have had the vaccine, you must still follow the rules to keep everyone safe.
